Overnight: DePere, WI
Apple Creek Campground
This morning we rushed around to get packed up and out of the hotel in time to get our free breakfast. We managed, but, oh, the humidity is just horrendous. I thought Georgia was bad!
With all the rain they have had, everything is just sopped. Many of the towns around us are so flooded that 40% of the streets are closed. And, you may have seen on the news the many homes that have been flooded and washed away. We are right in the middle of all of this flooding, and it's quite scary.
I wasn't sure what we'd have back at the campground. I took this picture when we arrived this morning, and as you can see, the calm little creek that was about 3-ft. lower than the banks, is now way over the banks. When we left the campground last Monday, there was a large, family tent between the picnic table and the bank--that's how much the creek has risen.
We are parked at the back of the campground, and on higher ground, so we should be OK. The rivers and creeks in the area are expected to continue to rise over the next couple of days, and more rain is expected today.
Because of all this flooding, we aren't quite sure which direction to head when we leave here, which we think will be tomorrow morning. So, I have to busy myself with optional plans for our departure.
I'll finish this blog with the rest of the day's activities later. So, for now, I'll say adios as I check the maps and weather report.
Sorry
