Overnight: DePere, WI
Hibernate Day (due to heavy rains)
Yikes, today is rain, rain, rain, and more rain.
There is no WiFi and I keep forgetting to buy new playing cards so that I can beat Dave in Canasta. So, we are watching TV and hoping we don't get washed out. I really feel sorry for the folks who are "tenting it" in this campground. Not only are the soaked to the core, but Apple Creek is rising fast. I have visions of the scene in the movie "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou" when the cow comes floating by on the roof of the barn.
Another unique experience in this campground is that you can rent a Yurt. Now, that really had me going. What's a Yurt? That's what I wondered. And, yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Now that I see it, I remember it to be the typical type of residence of the Mongolian nomad peoples. Sure beats a tent!
It finally stopped raining about 1 PM. So, we rushed up to the laundry room and did our wash. We wanted to get it done before heading to the hotel for four days.
After laundry, we went out for lunch. I had discovered this most delectable hamburger place. Really well decorated, clean, and yummy. We found it in Chicago. It's call Culver's. They have frozen custard--not ice cream. YUMMMMMM. As we were driving around Green Bay, I spotted one, and nothing would do until I could go back to get some custard. It is a 10-mile drive (one-way), but what's that at the price of gas today? OK, OK, some things are just worth it. I purchased a bulk pint to bring back to the RV. I now have that to look forward to finishing after we return from the reunion.
Well, as you can see, I have finished the afghan just in time for the reunion. It’s hard to tell in a picture, but all the colored designs are actually rows of puffy “hearts.” I thought it appropriate because who has more “heart” than those who fight for our freedoms in this country. I am happy that it’s done and it turned out fairly well.
The WiFi is up and down like a see-saw. So, I have had a hard time getting things posted in a timely fashion. Thanks for checking back. I'm going for a bowl of frozen custard and then heading to bed to enjoy the custard euphoria.
All for now, nighty night.
Sorry
