Repair the RV Day
WOW. Day 50! Hard to believe we have been gone that long.
Today we got sidetracked and couldn't go sightseeing. I have been frustrated with our refrigerator because it didn't seem to stay on. I couldn't get the right combination of button-pushing to make it stay on. Sometimes it seemed to stay on for days, and other times, it seemed to take 6-7 button pushes to get it to stay on. But, I really didn't feel it was broken; just operator error.
We don't have an operator's manual for the refrigerator, so I got on the Web site for the manufacturer. I couldn't find a guide there either, despite going to the location where they said I'd find it. But, what I did find out is that our refrigerator model is on recall. The warning was to stop using it with gas (LP) altogether. And, to only use it in electric mode if absolutely necessary. When you are living on the road, it's absolutely necessary.
So, I called a mobile tech to get the retrofitted part installed. No charge to install or for the part, but we'd have to take the RV into the shop. Not something we wanted, so we opted for a service call. He couldn't come for a couple of hours, but cut us a break on the cost of the service charge because he was working on an RV right across from our site.
I decided this was a good opportunity to get the laundry done. I also worked on the sweater I am crocheting for my new great-niece that's due this month. Dave's been outside at the picnic table all day with his genealogy books. So, to keep you from being bored reading this without any pictures, here's one of Dave hard at work.
I finished the laundry before the service man came at 1 PM. He just left at 5 PM. So, what should have been an hour's job took four hours. But, it's all done and retrofitted and safe now. I did receive an operator's guide via the Internet from the manufacturer this afternoon. And, now I know how to operate the refrigerator properly. Yes, minor operator error.
I know you will all be shocked, but I was outside today for approximately 3 hours in the fresh air and sunshine. Well, it's almost time for supper. Then, some TV tonight and off to bed. Not sure if we'll go for an ice cream run or not. We skipped it last night. Shocker!
Sorry
