Day 47 - USA Tour - Wall, SD

Overnight: Wall, SD
Sightseeing:
- Wild West Wax Museum
- Badlands at Sunset

Today we tried yet another restaurant for breakfast. This one was at least decent. After our munching out, we headed for the Wild West Wax Museum. We knew it would be hokey. But, I really did learn a lot about the western heroes and legends (and Dave had the opportunity to share with me all the knowledge he has from watching all those myriads of Westerns). Each scene had a plaque providing a bit of history about each figure. So, even though it was a bit hokey, it was informative.

Now, that's some contortions those figures can get into!

We went back to the RV and worked on the computers, took and nap, and just puttered.

At 7 PM, we headed off to the Badlands; this time, we took the 35-mile route the opposite direction we had taken it previously. This direction also put the sun at our backs so we could see the affects of the sunset on the hills and wouldn't have to drive into the setting sun. After all, how can you look for critters with the sun in your eyes?

The deer were out in force and very close to the highway. The prairie dogs were all standing on their hills and barking at each other loudly. We saw only one antelope.

The hills were very colorful, much more than came out in these pictures. The haze was still there, but it had cleared some due to the wind picking up last night and today.

The setting sun was a perfect finale to our visit to the Badlands. As the sun set, we said adios and looked forward to moving on to the Black Hills of South Dakota tomorrow.

While traveling on the freeway back to the RV, we saw one firework display, which topped off our Independence Day remembrance.
