Travel Day

We were up early and on the road by 8:30 AM. After a quick stop at McDonald's, we were off and running.

We plan to have a list of minor work done on the RV when we arrive in Cropwell, AL,(near Birmingham). Our favorite mobile repairman (Mike Oliver) will meet us there on Saturday to take inventory of the "fixes" we'd like done. So, we need to cover almost 600 miles in a couple of days. So, armed with pain killers for the long drive, we headed eastward.

We crossed the Mississippi River and enjoyed the sights.

The first riverboat casino on the return-home trip.

The first barge we've seen on our return-trip home.

And, the beach. But, not sure if we'd share it with crocks or not??

We stopped for lunch at Applebee's and had soup and salad. We had to park in a hotel parking lot that was quite a hike from the restaurant. However, the soup really hit the spot.

Our first choice for a campground tonight was full. But, our second choice was actually just fine. It's only downside was that it was a one huge parking lot of gravel with parking pads scattered about on which to park the RV. There were no trees--so a summer stop here wouldn't be pleasant. But, it was clean and it was cheap. Cable included Bravo and WiFi signal was excellent.

I made dinner. Shock, I know. I made Dave what's called a hot-dog burger. that's a hamburger in the shape of a hot dog. It fit well into the hot dog bun, as we didn't have any burger buns. I ate leftover pasta with hamburger meat that I had made some time ago and had in the freezer.
